What to expect

22 July: Arrival and transfer to hotel

Arrival Thessaloniki’s airport, assistance and departure to worship St. Payisios relics then drive to the hotel. Rest of the day at your leisure to rest. Dinner at a typical Greek taverna with music. Overnight at the hotel.

23 July: Sightseeing of Thessaloniki

Begin the excursion by visiting the White Tower, a historic landmark and we continue with the Archaeological Museum. We will see the unique collection of Macedonian Gold and important finds from Archaic, Classical and Roman period. Driving by the international Trade Fairgrounds, the Aristoteles University area, we will reach the Citadel and the city walls where we can admire Thessaloniki’s panoramic view and visit the patriarchal monastery of Vlatadon. Continue to visit the Basilica of St’ Demetrios, the saint protector of the city. Drive along Ignatia Street, named after the famous Roman way, Via Ignatia, walked by St Paul on his way from Constantinople to Rome. View the Arch of Galerius and St George’s Rotonda. St Sofia and St Grigorios Palamas Churches. Dinner and overnight at Thessaloniki

24 July: Thessaloniki -Veria – Soumela

Breakfast and departure to Veria to see the famous Steps (Vima) that St. Paul had preached. Continue to Vergina the first capital of Macedonia where we will visit the King’s mausoleum and the famous museum with finds of the Royal Tombs of King Philippos II, father of Alexander the Great, then we will drive to Soumela to visit the homonym monastery dedicated to the Virgin Mary. Return to Thessaloniki. Dinner and overnight.

25 July: Kavala -Philippi

We will drive to Kavala. On the way, we will stop at the ancient city of Philippi, one of the most interests biblical and historical cities renamed Philippi, after the king Philip the 2nd, father of Alexander the Great. Tour at the upper and lower parts of the archaeological site, where we will visit the ruins of two Basilicas, the Theatre, the Prison of St. Paul and St Lydia’s Baptistery. Continue to Kavala, the ancient site of Neapolis, the very same place where St. Paul set foot on the European continent during his second missionary journey. The tour will include a visit to the church of St. Lydia. Return to Thessaloniki for dinner and overnight at the hotel.

26 July: Thessaloniki -Beirut

Breakfast.. Transfer to the airport for the flight back to Beirut via Athens.
